Hello! I am Eadric but you can call me Yichen. It is very nice to meet you! I am a current Princeton undergrad pursuing an A.B. in School of Public and International Affairs, with minors in Psychology, Finance, and Computer Science. I love tutoring because I love the idea of helping out and being for students what I wished I’d had when I was in their shoes: someone patient, honest, and invested in how they’re actually doing, not just what score they get.
I’ve been tutoring for over five years, mainly for the SAT, SSAT, and ISEE, and I’m happiest working with middle and high school students on test prep, reading, writing, and math. Through my own experiences from preparing for the SAT, I’ve learned that the most useful thing I can do is figure out exactly where a student’s thinking gets stuck and build a plan around that, rather than handing everyone the same strategy. I also spent four years as an assistant coach and mentor in my high school’s debate program, helping younger students through their first tournaments, so I’m comfortable working with nervous beginners and helping them find their confidence.
Outside of tutoring, I’m interested in philosophy, public policy, and writing. I won the Harvard International Review’s Outstanding Writing Style Prize, was shortlisted for the John Locke Global Writing Competition, and published an article on SAT preparation. I’m also a native speaker of both Mandarin and English. In my free time you can find me playing guitar, taking typing tests (I’m a bit competitive about them), or eating instant ramen at an unreasonable hour.
I’m looking forward to working with you!
