Tracy

Most recently I have worked as a Reading Specialist and an eighth grade Pre-Algebra teacher. As a Reading Specialist, I have utilized the Columbia Reading Workshop model, Wilson structures, and Orton Strategies. In other positions, I have implemented the Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshops, Math-In-Focus (including guided math), as well as Science and Social Studies curricula.

I embrace the philosophy that an educator’s responsibility extends beyond the walls of the classroom. As a volunteer in Literacy and Math Nights, I’ve collaborated to connect parents with the curriculum. I’ve also worked on the Character Education Committee, organizing a school wide project to promote kindness. I have found that my extracurricular experiences have enriched my relationships with both students and fellow staff, and as a tutor, I am looking forward to building positive and productive relationships with students one-on-one. I enjoy tutoring because I like connecting with individual students to help them build up their academic and study skills.
