Stephen

Hi! My name is Stephen, I’m a college admissions consultant and essay coach with extensive teaching and tutoring experience across humanities and standardized test preparation (SAT, ACT, PSAT). I’ve worked with students from middle school through college on everything from SAT prep to college applications to AP English, History, and Psychology. I particularly enjoy helping students develop their writing skills, whether for academic success, self-expression, or compelling personal statements.

My academic background is in Comparative Literature, and I hold an M.A. from Dartmouth College. I’ve taught university courses in literature, writing, and language, and I’ve supported hundreds of high school students through the college admissions process, helping them gain acceptance to top universities in the U.S. and abroad. I enjoy working with students to build long-term critical thinking and communication skills.

I am fluent in French and German, and have studied Italian and Latin extensively. I’ve lived in France, Germany, and Italy, and my academic background includes work with Romance languages and classical texts. I have experience tutoring AP and college-level students in literature and writing, and I’m confident supporting grammar, translation, and analytical skills for AP language exams.

Outside of tutoring, I’m passionate about literature, languages, and philosophy. I’ve conducted research in the U.S., France, and Germany, and I’ve lived in Europe for several years. I love bringing curiosity and a global perspective to my teaching, and I’m deeply committed to helping each student grow in confidence and clarity.
