Hi! My name is Sowmya and I’m from northern California. I’m currently a PhD student in Computer Science at Princeton. I’m interested in the intersection between machine learning and physics. Previously, I got my bachelors in Computer Science at UC Berkeley and did research in machine learning and condensed matter physics. I have extensive teaching and mentoring experience in computer science (machine learning, algorithms, etc.), math, and physics.
In my free time, I like to pursue photography, learn new languages, work out, and do henna art.

I was also awarded the Chair’s Award, Berkeley EECS for my work as a TA in CS 189 (Machine Learning). I was also in the Traders at Berkeley organization (Quantitative Finance club). I also conducted research while at Berkeley in two labs (1. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where I worked on machine learning for astrophysics problems and 2. Department of Physics, where I worked on computational condensed matter problems). I also did four industry internships (at Cadence as a software engineering intern, Goldman Sachs as a software engineering intern, IMC Trading as a quantitative trading intern, and currently Nirvana Robotics as a research intern).
