Hi! I’m Skyler, and I graduated with a degree in Environmental Science and Anthropology (Archaeology) from Barnard College of Columbia University. While conducting my undergraduate thesis research, I was one of the first to apply dendrochronological dating to determine changes in historic agricultural practices. I am passionate about applying cross-disciplinary methods to STEM and humanities research and believe thorough studies in both subject areas are important to academic success. I bring this approach to my tutoring, ensuring my students are receiving a well-rounded and applicable understanding from their studies. I tutor SAT/ACT, STEM, humanities/writing, and Spanish.
I have extensive experience teaching environmental sciences, both in an outdoor and classroom setting. I worked at the Columbia Climate School in collaboration with the UN to develop cross-disciplinary courses for middle and high school students covering topics such as sustainable development, global history, and climate science.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, playing ultimate frisbee, reading classic literature, and traveling. I am also very interested in sustainable agriculture and ecological restoration!
