Hello! I’m Sam. I graduated from Princeton University, and I am working towards my Masters of Teaching while assistant teaching an elementary class. I graduated with a bachelor of arts in physics with a minor in mathematics.
At Princeton, I independently researched topics on space physics, quantum mechanics, cosmology, and abstract mathematics with advisors acclaimed in their fields. I enjoy explaining complicated topics to people in ways best suited to their experiences and goals. Learning about science or math looks different based on if one wants to apply results or know where they come from. Whatever your goals or motivations are for learning, I’m happy to adapt my approach. My background influences my approach to tutoring English and reading. Especially in standardized testing, I think reading/English and math/science are more alike than many realize. Whether you’d like help with STEM topics or excel in STEM and want to transfer your skills to the humanities, I’m happy to help!
I plan to teach elementary school for some years before returning for my PhD in physics. I want to teach at a university one day because I enjoy helping college aged students on more advanced topics. I also find it fascinating to teach younger students more foundational knowledge, which is why I am pursuing my Masters of Teaching. Whatever level your subject is, a combination of MAT coursework and high level undergraduate courses should be able to suit your specific needs and goals.
In my free time, I love rock climbing, weightlifting, playing video/board games, and knitting.
