Rebecca

I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Neural Science at NYU. My academic focus has been on glioblastoma, and I have devoted over 3 years toward leading an independent research project exploring calcium signaling in brain cancer. This work has been recognized nationally through a Barry Goldwater Scholarship award.

I am passionate about enriching students’ academic lives through tutoring, and my 8 years of experience have spanned test preparation, elementary, middle, high school, and college/AP-level math and science, public speaking, reading comprehension, study and organizational skills, and essay editing. A particularly rewarding experience of mine was founding a free academic tutoring program within my former club swim team during my freshman year of high school. Through this initiative, I developed strong leadership and organizational skills, recruited and trained fellow tutors, and fostered a nurturing learning environment for our participants.

I enjoy the creativity that tutoring requires and love helping students have “a-ha!” moments while tackling difficult subjects. I am thrilled to work with Princeton Tutoring because of its commitment to excellence in delivering unparalleled educational support to students!

Outside of my academic and tutoring endeavors, I am passionate about mentorship and community engagement. As the Director of the Futures in STEM Mentorship Program at NYU, I lead initiatives that connect female students with high school girls from underserved communities, offering guidance on resume building, interview preparation, and STEM opportunities. In addition to my research and outreach efforts, I have led self-supported backpacking trips for teens in diverse environments such as New England, Wyoming, and Switzerland, where I worked closely with middle school students, fostering resilience, teamwork, and personal growth.

My long-term career goal is to combine my research background with clinical practice to improve patient outcomes as a physician-scientist. Outside of my professional interests, I enjoy hiking, biking, and crocheting, and I am committed to advocating for environmental science education and underrepresented groups in STEM.
