Hi! I’m Nicholas, a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Science, where I studied Computer Science with an AI concentration and a second major in Mathematics. I’m currently working as a Clinical AI Developer at Penn Medicine, implementing AI into the clinic to improve cancer treatment with radiation.
I’ve been passionate about teaching for years. As a Teaching Assistant for single-variable calculus, I taught over 60 engineering students, delivering weekly lectures and recitations while maintaining a commitment to understanding each student’s individual learning style. As a teaching assistant for calculus at Penn, a student-athlete calculus tutor, and a volunteer high school mathematics tutor, I learned that every student can excel with the right support and approach. This experience reinforced what I’ve learned through my volunteer tutoring with the West Philadelphia community: every student has unique strengths and weaknesses, and meeting them where they are is essential to their success.
As a student-athlete juggling 15+ hours weekly of NCAA Division I fencing alongside rigorous coursework, I intimately understand the challenges students face in balancing academics with other commitments. When I tutored Penn student-athletes in Calculus I-III, I didn’t just help them with immediate homework; I adapted my methods for their demanding schedules, broke down complex concepts into accessible explanations, and built their confidence (one of my tutees was so inspired that they became a peer tutor themselves).
The subjects I tutor include: SAT Math prep, Calculus, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science.
Outside of tutoring, I’m an athlete and a gamer. I was a Division I saber fencer at Penn, and I stay active playing volleyball, soccer, basketball, and more. I also love a good game of Mario Kart, Mario Party, or Rocket League!
