Mike

Mike is a test prep tutor and college admissions coach with over a decade of experience. When it comes to preparing students for standardized tests, Mike believes that a rigorous, personalized approach can help any student excel, and he’s got the stats to prove it: his recent students have averaged above a 34 on the ACT (median improvement of 7+ points) and just under a 1500 on the SAT (median improvement of 150 points). He’s helped students reach score gains as high as 13 points on the ACT and 300 points on the SAT, and nearly every one of his students finishes with a score in the 98th percentile or higher.

When it comes to college admissions coaching, Mike uses a data-driven approach to help each student develop a meaningful and successful high school experience that translates into compelling narratives for the college applications themselves. Each application cycle, Mike takes on a select number of students for admissions coaching, helping them with everything from high school course selection to building a college list to finally writing and submitting the application materials themselves. In just the last application cycle, Mike’s students accepted offers from Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell Engineering, USC, MIT, and Emory. Students from previous application cycles have enrolled at Stanford, UCLA, UC Berkeley, Harvard, Claremont McKenna, and Yale.

Mike is a PhD Candidate in English at Duke University and spends his free time hiking, cycling, and writing about literature.
