Hi, I’m Lucas! I’m a passionate and experienced STEM tutor with 5 years of private tutoring experience. Currently, I’m a medical student at the University of Illinois in Champaign. I grew up near Seattle and attended Cal Poly SLO in California for undergrad. There, I received my bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering. I specialize in STEM courses (especially chemistry, physics, biology, and math) and test prep (including SAT/ACT and MCAT) and have experience teaching from the elementary school level to the college level. I take pride in creating exciting “aha!” moments and developing personalized learning strategies to keep each of my students engaged and motivated. I also prioritize forming close connections with the parents of the children I tutor.
In my free time, I’m an avid runner and competed on my college cross country and track teams for 4 years. I also love to read, draw, rock climb, kitesurf, and travel cheap! Last year, I took a gap year to travel to South America; there, I did lots of backpacking in Peru and the Patagonias, and I worked on a winery in Central Chile! I also recently got my pilot’s license in Illinois and am having a blast flying!
If you think I might be able to help, or if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out! Happy studying!
