I am a current undergraduate at Harvard University, pursuing a concentration in History and Science (an interdisciplinary department here that lets me take classes across the humanities, social sciences, and physical sciences). I am involved in several comedy groups on campus and hope to pursue a career as a neuro-oncologist—my published research in high school centered on the intersection of demographic factors with patients’ symptom burden. I am fascinated by Medical Anthropology and Social Medicine, and that is what my studies focus on at Harvard.
I genuinely enjoy the process of tutoring and encouraging a student to get to the “aha, I get it now!” moment. In my experience tutoring at an education nonprofit in Washington, D.C., I found great joy in adapting lesson plans to meet the learning styles of each individual student. I know that not every student learns the same, and I enjoy using my creativity to explain concepts and processes in alternate language and forms, as needed. I feel immense satisfaction in helping students to understand tricky content.
I am an incredibly driven and reliable person, and I am very committed to the things I put my hand to. In my work, I am able to keep an awareness of the big picture while tending to tedious details. I truly believe that an enthusiastic tutor can change a student’s disposition toward certain subjects, and I am excited at the prospect of growing students’ enthusiasm and confidence in their studies. I have experience with a wide range of age groups and learning needs, and I enjoy working with a variety of students!
The subjects I tutor include: English, Latin (language), math, and science. I particularly enjoy tutoring in English-related fields, as well as helping students to implement testing strategies and speed cuts for standardized tests!
