I believe that the most important aspects of being a tutor are patience and diligence. In high school, as the secretary of the National Honor Society, one of my largest responsibilities was to oversee the peer tutoring program. Beyond scheduling the tutoring and overseeing the attendance of the tutors, I was a tutor myself, specifically for math and English students. I also interned as a Teacher’s Assistant for course credit in high school for an Honors Algebra 2 class, throughout which I helped create lesson plans and taught the class multiple times per semester. I realized that I am an effective tutor because it’s something that I genuinely enjoy doing, and it is engaging for the students to see that.
