Jake

I specialize in tutoring chemistry, math, Spanish, and the SAT, though I have worked with many different students and subjects. I have helped a number of regular tutees achieve academic improvement and developed productive relationships with each of them.

Through these experiences I have learned how to tailor my tutoring to each individual. For me, tutoring sessions are a time for collaboration, rather than dictation; I believe it is essential to build strong rapport with each student. I have found that some tutors' styles are too one-sided and that these individuals' students run into the same roadblocks they encounter in the classroom. I believe tutoring is most effective when a tutor can work towards a common goal alongside a student.
