I have been teaching, both privately and in public schools, for more than five years now. I’ve worked with students of every age, from youngsters taking their first steps into reading all the way to working professionals learning English as their second language! I currently tutor test prep (ACT/SAT), Math through Pre-Calculus, English (including academic writing, creative writing, and research), and Latin through the AP level.
I graduated from the University of Southern California with my bachelor’s degree in English, so I’m always excited to talk grammar, prose, and literature. That being said, I have an affinity for math and science, and one reason I love tutoring is that I get to continue revisiting subjects like these that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to work with. I also spent a large portion of my time at USC studying and translating Latin (the language is alive and well!), and I love to teach it, both per se and as a means to fortify my students’ English writing and speaking skills.
I have a laundry list of hobbies and passions, but here’s the short version: jazz music, home cooking, and literature. When I’m not teaching, meal-prepping, or playing my saxophone, I’m usually reading or writing fiction. I am a published author of short fiction and am currently finishing up my first novel!
