Hello! My name is Elena, and I’m studying Civil Engineering at UC Berkeley, with the aim of working to improve water and wastewater infrastructure to protect public and environmental health. Through my work building sanitation infrastructure at a school in Nepal as part of Engineers Without Borders, I have learned how foundational skills in math, writing, and the physical sciences can empower students to bring about positive change in communities around the world.
I have helped students achieve their goals in chemistry, math, Latin, and college essay writing, and I have over three years of experience coaching my local middle school’s math club and speech and debate team. Across all subjects, my favorite part of tutoring is helping students develop the skills and confidence to tackle new problems on their own, and I look forward to helping more students thrive!
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy open-water swimming, hiking, exploring on public transit, and embroidery. I’m fluent in Italian, an avid reader of everything from science fiction to poetry, and a proud collector of translations of “The Little Prince” in 7 different languages (and counting!).
