Christine

Since entering high school, I have found tutoring to be immensely gratifying. My most memorable tutoring experience is from my freshman year of high school, when I tutored students from Haiti in English through Skype. During these tutoring sessions, we discussed their goals in life which included studying in America, becoming doctors, and supporting their families. After this, I realized how important my role as a tutor was in facilitating my students’ learning and success, and I was inspired to expand my tutoring efforts. I also organized SAT tutoring workshops at the East Orange Public Library. My one-on-one tutoring experiences have come from helping students who had trouble speaking English with a variety of subjects through my high school’s ESL program. I also tutored a fifth grader in writing and a rising freshman in Geometry the summer before starting college among others. Therefore, my strengths are tutoring SAT skills and knowledge, science, and any level of math, as math has always come naturally to me. Throughout high school, I was the president of the Math Club and earned first place in several competitions such as the AMTNJ High School Mathematics Contest. In addition to math, I am passionate about science and technology and am considering a career in medicine.
