Caite

Hi! I’m Caite, a dedicated educator, researcher, and mentor with over a decade of tutoring experience helping students to thrive across the humanities, sciences, and arts. I graduated with honors from Columbia University, where I co-founded the Columbia Journal of Anthropology, and was awarded Fulbright, Rotary, and National Merit Scholarships. My neuroscience research has been published in high-impact scientific journals, and I’ve also worked professionally as a copywriter, giving me a strong command of writing styles across academic, creative, and technical domains.

I bring a warm, intuitive, and structured approach to tutoring. I’ve supported students from age 8 through adult, including those attending some of the nation’s top private schools. I specialize in writing foundations and admissions applications, and also tutor English, Social Studies, History, Spanish, French, Biology, Ethics, Math, and test preparation. My tutoring style blends structured academic guidance with curiosity-driven exploration. When appropriate and desired, I also incorporate strategies tailored towards stress reduction and neurodiverse learners. I also have experience working with school transitions, including international students. I speak four languages and have lived in the US, Europe, and South America.

My eclectic professional background enables me to bring a rich, real-world perspective to my work as a tutor. I’ve worked at the highest levels of the contemporary art world, freelanced across industries as a designer, and most recently, I’ve built a career in scientific research. My research focuses on the neuroscience of the mind-body connection, and I draw upon the latest research on learning, motivation, and well-being to inform my teaching.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy barefoot hiking, dance, meditation, making art, playing music, spending time with my dog, and volunteering with rescued horses. Last year, I had the joy of serving as a nature-based mentor for children at a forest school in the mountains and beaches of Los Angeles. I’m an award-winning artist, and I’ve been in a few bands (voice, keys, drums).

I’m passionate about helping students discover their voice, unlock their potential, and identify strategies that work for them. It’s my sincere goal to ignite curiosity, build confidence, and inspire a lifelong love of learning.

I look forward to working with you!
