Alison

Hi there! My name is Alison, and I studied Human Development, Psychology, and Creative Nonfiction Writing at Northwestern University. After graduating, I moved to Spain to teach English in an elementary school. Classroom teaching is a lot of fun, but tutoring is my true love. Working one-on-one with students allows me to really get to know them and to build a relationship that becomes the foundation for their learning and growth.

I have experience tutoring elementary, middle, and high school students, and students with special needs and learning disabilities. My expertise lies in English, Reading Comprehension, Writing, Literature, and Grammar. I especially love working with students who are writing college application essays. The personal-essay writing process asks students to be vulnerable, sincere, and self-aware. I help my students feel supported and confident as they take on this challenge.

A little bit more about me: I love oceans, lakes, swimming, camping, sailing–all things water and outdoors. My hobbies include playing guitar, going for runs with friends, and watching every piece of boygenius (band) media available on the internet. My dream vacation is to go hiking in the Patagonias in Chile.

I look forward to working with you, getting to know you, and making this ~learning thing~ fun!!
