Alexis

Hello! My name is Alexis and I am a doctoral candidate at CUNY Graduate Center in music. I have been a tutor for nearly 10 years in addition to a music instructor and researcher. I was on a Fulbright scholarship to Austria from 2019 to 2020, and prior to that, attended Mannes College, the New School for my masters, and Princeton University for my bachelor’s.

I’m a passionate educator who has worked at Bronx Community College and Brooklyn College both as a lecturer but also a Writing Fellow, designing curriculums and offering teaching pedagogy workshops to faculty. I was also a research fellow at the Morgan Library, working in their music archive, and I teach Music Together, which is a developmental music class for children. I enjoy tutoring because I enjoy the challenge of finding the best way to help students, and because I want to instill a joy of learning in the students I meet.

The subjects I tutor include: test prep (SSAT/ISEE/SAT), math up to Precalculus, English/Writing, elementary/middle school math & literacy, and AP Music Theory.
