Hi! My name is Alanna, and I am an MPH candidate in the Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology department at UC Berkeley. I am also applying to medical school, as I am currently interested in Pediatrics. I graduated from UCLA magna cum laude with a B.S. in Physiological Science and a minor in Public Health!
During my time at UCLA, I was a member of the Undergraduate Learning Assistant Program, where I took a pedagogy course that focused on facilitating active learning and collaborative instruction, and I applied these teaching methods as a learning assistant for anatomy courses in the Integrative Biology and Physiology department. I will also be taking another pedagogy course and teaching as a Graduate Student Instructor for the Neuroscience department at Berkeley in the spring. I have always had a strong love for learning, and my teaching experiences have led me to love teaching as well! I have two younger brothers who are currently in high school, and I love working with kids and teens of all ages. The subjects I tutor include: Biology (subject, AP, or MCAT level), Statistics (subject, AP, or college level), Math through AP Calc AB/BC, Anatomy, and Physics.
Outside of all things academia, I always make time for my friends and family, and I love to cook. I also love crafts (painting, collaging, the works)!
