Abia

Hello! My name is Abia, and I am a recent graduate from New York University with a Bachelor of Science in Global Public Health and Biology. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Bioethics at NYU’s School of Global Public Health as I prepare for medical school. My academic and professional interests lie primarily in clinical ethics, specifically understanding and strengthening patient and physician communication to emphasize informed consent in healthcare settings. Ultimately, I hope to combine these skills in a future career as a physician deeply involved in clinical and public health ethics research, alongside gaining hands on clinical experience as a medical assistant at a dermatology practice.

During my time at NYU, I was actively involved in campus life as a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity, the Medical Dialogue Review, and Model United Nations, alongside completing an internship at Barstool Sports.

Tutoring has always been a meaningful and valuable experience for me, as understanding unique learning styles helps me become a stronger student and communicator as well. While I especially enjoy tutoring in the sciences and reviewing foundational concepts, I also love stepping outside my comfort zone to tutor in math and language arts. Standardized tests are also firmly in my wheelhouse, and having benefited from fantastic mentors myself, I love helping students excel on the SAT and ACT.
