Hi! My name is Ian. I am from Los Angeles and currently at the University of Chicago. A little about me is that I love baseball (my dream job is to be a GM/Data Analyst for the Dodgers) and enjoy hiking, cooking, pickleball, and most importantly, LEARNING. I am currently learning about quantitative finance, coding, probability, and statistics. Always stay a student!
I am looking to: 1. Find ways to put the fun back into learning so students can feel motivated to learn. 2. Give students efficient and amazing results in the grade book, test scores, and college admissions. One thing I will certainly promise is that I will work hard to tailor/personalize my lessons for each student and figure out the most efficient/best course of action to see the greatest improvements in grades/results.
In terms of my experience, I have taught math (up to calculus), physics, biology, SAT prep, college essay review, college application strategy, economics, statistics, and everything in between for about 10 years now. One thing I can say is that all the students I have ever worked with have seen dramatic increases in scores/results. I have won an international math competition, been in the top 2% in a Harvard International research paper competition, and was a team leader for my club baseball team in Korea. I can guarantee that I know my stuff!
My strategy involves scientifically based study techniques and fun (but productive) learning, helping students of all ages gain confidence in their weaknesses. I won’t waste time; weaknesses will be addressed directly and efficiently.
At the end of the day, students and parents want great grades, stellar test scores, and most of all, to send their kids to an amazing university. I am confident I can be a catalyst for students to achieve that goal. Thanks!
