After growing up in northeast Kansas, Evan studied English and Literary Arts at Brown University, where he wrote an honors thesis in fiction and poetry. Evan has worked as an educator for over four years, with experience ranging from high school tutoring to classroom instruction at Choate Rosemary Hall.
Evan specializes in SAT prep and College Essay Writing, as well as general ELA support. When he was in high school, Evan taught himself the intricacies of the SAT and raised his score by 200 points, and now he wants to share what he learned with his test prep students. Drawing on his background as a writer and editor, Evan helps his college essay students produce writing that is authentic and winning.
In college, Evan edited Brown’s satirical newspaper, The Brown Noser, and more recently, he has published in The Onion. His essays have won the Preston Gurney Fiction Prize and the Preston Gurney Poetry Prize at Brown, and he was selected as the Regional Winner in Literature for the U.S. and Canada in the Global Undergraduate Awards. His poetry has also been recognized in the Adroit Prizes for Poetry & Prose. In his free time, Evan likes to watch (and play) soccer, hone his cooking skills, and build awesome castles in Minecraft.
