Hi, I’m Akshara! I’m an undergraduate at New York University majoring in Mathematics/Computer Science and minoring in English. I’ve been tutoring students since I was in high school, and I have experience tutoring students of all ages. My specialties include test prep (SAT/ACT), math (both curricular and competitive), Computer Science, English, and Spanish.
I love working with students and making an impact on their learning. As someone with interests in both math and English, which are commonly seen as opposite subjects, I hope to bridge the gap between STEM-inclined and humanities-inclined students. Another goal of mine is to make math seem less tedious and more exciting. I aim to teach math in the way I learned it: through an emphasis on celebrating correct answers rather than penalizing mistakes. Beyond tutoring, I want to foster a comfortable environment for students, where they aren’t afraid to be themselves and voice their genuine thoughts and concerns.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, writing poetry, watching films, diving into internet spirals (hopefully learning something new in the process), learning languages, cooking, and exploring NYC.
