Hi! My name is Liz, and I am a graduate student at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health studying Environmental Health. I graduated cum laude from Penn State with a degree in Biology focused on ecology and evolution. While at Penn State, I conducted my honors research on community ecology after environmental disasters. I also served as the community engagement chair and professional development chair for Schreyer for Women, an organization that supports women and non-binary individuals in the Schreyer Honors College.
During undergrad, I discovered my love for teaching as a calculus tutor and pursued teaching after graduation with Teach for America Appalachia. I was a Calculus I teaching assistant for one year in undergrad and then a Penn State Learning math tutor for two years, where I tutored students in prealgebra, algebra, and calculus. I taught high school science for three years in Kentucky before going to grad school to pursue my interests at the intersection of conservation, human health, and education.
In addition to Biology and Math (through Calculus), I am also able to tutor Chemistry, as I completed the following courses: Chemistry 1 & 2, Advanced Organic Chemistry 1 & 2, and Honors Organic Synthesis.
I am passionate about education as a powerful tool to reduce disparity and I love helping students achieve their academic and personal goals.
In my free time, I like to hike, camp, and spend time with friends.
