Sophie

Hello! My name is Sophie. I graduated from Harvard University, where I studied mathematics with a secondary in Spanish. I have a C1 DELE certificate and I am currently doing my Master’s in Spanish literature and linguistics on a full academic scholarship.

My experience as a linear algebra course assistant, as a multivariable calculus teaching fellow, and as an SSAT tutor for middle schoolers has prepared me well to tutor a range of subjects, ages, and levels. My experience teaching has been both remote and in-person, so I’m well prepared to tutor remotely. As a linear algebra course assistant, I held office hours for students who were often in their first college math class. This taught me how to help students who are coming from a variety of backgrounds and adjusting to new expectations.

My coursework in mathematics, alongside my teaching, makes me extremely qualified to tutor math at any level, especially test prep (SAT/SSAT). I spent my final semester of undergrad studying abroad in Granada, Spain, where I was able to put what I had learned in my Spanish classes to the test. My coursework in Spanish, my time as an editor, and my writing workshops in college have all prepared me well to assist students with Spanish language learning or essay writing. I’d love to use all that I learned there to help students with their Spanish. Looking forward to meeting you!
