WORK WITH A GEOMETRY EXPERT

Hi, I’m Preston.

What parents say about our Geometry tutors

Our team includes award-winning Princeton University undergrads and Master’s/PhD graduates who are rigorously screened and are extremely effective at communicating the material.

A quick “case study”:

The father of a tenth-grader at a premier New England boarding school contacted us to help his son, a hard working student who wanted help building up his foundations in Geometry.

His son also had ADHD and needed help with focus and motivation.

We matched him with Preston, a cum laude graduate of Princeton University with impressive test scores and extensive teaching experience.

Here’s what the father had to say:

“It has come to my attention that Princeton Tutoring seeks honest, valued and candid feedback about student and teacher experiences.

May I write a few sentences regarding the past twelve weeks with Preston tutoring my son Cole in Geometry.

Although my expectations were high, I will start by saying Cole and my experience has been well above expectations.

Cole attends a premier boarding school in New England and has struggled with math for many years. My goal was to provide support for Cole and review the foundational elements.

Not only has Preston reviewed material and supported Cole’s work load, he went well beyond and learned what fundamental principles Cole lacked in confidence and “retaught” Cole a better understanding of his current work. I cant tell you how much this impacted confidence and outcome.

I would recommend Princeton Tutoring to any parent or student, but more particularly, Preston, even though Preston lives in San Francisco and all our work was completed virtually, which my son had reservations about at the beginning, Preston built a positive relationship and impacted Cole in real terms.

We will be continuing our work with Preston this summer and have my other son join weekly for math review.

My sincere thanks. Money well invested.

We receive messages like these every week.

We regularly track progress

Progress reports are shared after every session so you always know what’s going on.

A Real-Life Example:

Student: Nabeel
Tutor: Timur
Subject(s): Geometry
Date: 4/12
Time Tutored: 12:10 – 13:10
Next Scheduled Session: Sun, 04/19 12:00 PM (Online)

Material Covered:

Today we finished up any loose ends in Chapter 11. We went over more algebra practice. Then, answered some in-class questions from Nabeel’s classwork. Lastly, went over the challenging homework questions.

Additional Comments:

Nabeel will do well for his quiz in this chapter—he has demonstrated that in his homework (which he completed; I am impressed-keep it up!) and on surprise questions from his textbook.

The one thing I would suggest he remembers is that for the proportions he writes (and any equation, for the matter of fact), to be aware of the ASSUMPTIONS he makes in writing them.

For instance, when equating side length ratio to area ratio of two similar polygons, one cannot equate them without equating the dimensions of both sides (since sides are of units of length, while areas of length squared).

Hopefully in the two challenge questions I gave him for practice for next week, he will remember and apply that.

Assignments for Next Week:

Two custom questions given for practice (will help for quiz prep as well).

LEARN HOW WE CAN HELP

Addresses common student issues

A deep understanding of the subject matter allows us to personalize our approach.

Why is Geometry important?

Geometry is a foundational subject.

It’s tested on the SAT and ACT, but it’s also useful outside of academics as well.

While you may never make use of most of the theorems and postulates you learn in class, you WILL take away critical thinking skills you developed to understand those theorems.

Why do some students struggle with Geometry?

Geometry is tough for many students. We find that even those who typically do well in math may struggle with geometry because it is so different.

For many of our students, this is the first time they have been required to piece together so many different pieces of information to solve geometry proofs and theorems.

The concepts in this subject build upon each other, and if you get behind, things start going downhill very quickly.

On top of this, many of our more advanced students take accelerated geometry courses that cram a lot of information into a short amount of time, which exacerbates the “getting behind” issue.

More Enthusiastic

“I wanted to let you know that Colin is doing well in geometry, is less stressed about it, and for the first time ever texted me about a quiz grade of 94!

He’s obviously more enthusiastic about this subject and actually school in general than even a month ago. THANK YOU for helping to turn things around!”
