WORK WITH A EUROPEAN HISTORY EXPERT

Hi, I’m Chhaya.

What parents say about our European History tutors

Our team includes award-winning Princeton University undergrads and Master’s/PhD graduates who are rigorously screened and are extremely effective at communicating the material.

A quick “case study”:

The mother of a 10th grader at Princeton High School contacted us to help her daughter with AP History.

The student was scoring As in her class, but the subject matter did not play to her strengths. Additionally, she was very busy with sports. The daughter wanted somebody to help her effectively and efficiently prepare for the AP History test.

We matched the daughter with Chhaya, a biology major at Princeton University also in the Teacher Preparation Program.

Chhaya had previously spent a bridge year in India where she was a full-time teacher in a village school for seven months. We also found the daughter tutors in other subjects as well.

Here’s some feedback:

“Again, thank you so much for your help with Emily.

Both tutors have been wonderful and helped her with AP History and the chemistry SAT Subject Test.”

We receive messages like this every week.

We regularly track progress

Progress reports are shared after every session so you always know what’s going on.

A Real-Life Example:

Student: Kelli
Tutor: Ryan
Subject(s): AP European History
Date: 2/20
Time Tutored: 21:30 – 22:30

Material Covered:

We discussed DBQs — what the prompt is, how to understand the question (command term, key terms, key analysis), and how to understand documents using the OPVL analysis type. We went through the rubric of a released DBQ on the 30 years war and also examined their documents using the tools we discussed in class.

Assignments for Next Week:

Please complete the DBQs that I’ve sent over.

The most important thing for Kelli, besides studying, is to go through the released DBQs and familiarize herself with what College Board and teachers would be looking for in a given prompt, and especially to find a prompt relevant to her DBQ on Tuesday then practice and evaluate it. If she does this rapidly enough, it’s possible we could meet early enough next week to discuss that together.

How is your child performing in European History?

LEARN HOW WE CAN HELP

Addresses common student issues

A deep understanding of the subject matter allows us to personalize our approach.

Why is European History important?

European history covers everything from the Renaissance to World Wars I and II to Darwin to Freud. And, because there is so much to cover, the pace in such classes is quite fast.

Why do some students struggle with European History?

Many students struggle with organizing the huge amount of information, especially when it involves countries they may not be familiar with. With so many dates to remember, it can be hard to form a good chronological timeline of events.

As a result, students might wind up writing about the wrong time period in association with certain exam questions. Some also find it challenging to grasp both the small, specific details, and the bigger picture that stitches everything together into a cause-and-effect relationship.

Doing well in European history requires more than just recall of dates and figures. Students must be able to critically read and analyze passages, and develop and defend their arguments in essay form. In European history, the document-based-questions (DBQ) and free-response questions tend to give students the most trouble.

Amazingly Helpful

“We have now had two sessions with Sweta and I am writing to let you know how thrilled we are with her. She is very professional, offers pointed advice and is really able to help hugely.

Both times after the tutoring session, the comments that I heard were ‘That was so amazingly helpful!!’. That speaks volumes I think.

I think you found us the best fit for the needs and Sweta is phenomenal. I am very happy that we came to you and you found us Sweta and just wish that we had done that earlier. Thank you so much.”
