Test Prep - ACT
Time Tutored: 7 - 9 pm
Additional Billable Time: N/A
Previous Quiz/Test Scores: N/A
Next Scheduled Session: 9/18 at 7 pm
We started by covering the reading, science and english sections A took timed. Then we looked at specific science passages (including a contrasting viewpoint passage that dealt with astronomy). After that, A practiced trying to get as many questions correct on the social science reading passage given time restrictions (aiming to replicate what A would experience on an actual ACT, as she will likely get to the social science passage with 5-7 minutes to get as many correct answers as she can). And we finished by covering several English passages.
Notes for A:
On the science, when moving through a section don't feel compelled to do the passages in order. If you don't feel that you have a good understanding of what is happening in a passage, skip it and come back later. Often, after working through several other passages, you'll return to a previously confusing passage (and you'll have a fresh perspective) and be able to understand it better.
On the English section, try not to go faster than a rate of 7 minutes per passage. You should be spending between 7-8 minutes on each passage.
Nice job on the three practice sections you did for homework! As a reminder, you got a 31 in Reading, a 31 in Science and a 28 in English. So you're definitely heading in the right direction. After our meeting tomorrow, I'll give you another practice test to do prior to our weekend session.
