Award of Excellence, Honor Roll, Community Bridge Builder
I have extensive experience working with children and students. I have been a frequent volunteer at Beautiful Flowers Childcare in Michigan. As a volunteer, I worked with younger children to develop lesson plans on phonics and reading. I also worked with older groups of students in the program as a math tutor. As the president of my high school's National Honor Society, I oversaw a school-wide tutoring program. Serving as the previous State President of a national business organization, I formulated a program of work, developing my organizational skills. As State President, I maintained frequent communication with over 10,000 student members, organization directors, and sponsors. I believe my ability to pursue long-term goals to grow an organization and community is applicable and transferable to pursuing long-term academic goals and growth through tutoring.

As someone who is VERY much used to going through the difficult and frustrating process of learning a mathematical concept for the first time, I know how great it feels to finally have something click. Although it's not exactly the same, helping a student reach this understanding does give me a similar satisfaction. At the same time, as a physics major (who has a strong fancy for mathematics), I can't help but want to try and dispel the notion that "math is hard."

I'm an experienced tutor who has worked with a wide range of students from grades K-12. I love tutoring because I understand the struggles of being a student and how important it is to have someone help you understand various concepts. I enjoy working with students and getting to know them not only in an academic context but also on a personal level. I'm comfortable teaching a variety of subjects such as math, reading, writing, and U.S. Government. I love traveling and learning about new cultures, which is why I can speak four languages.

I am a current undergraduate at Princeton University pursuing a degree in Economics. For high school, I attended the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, where I received a fantastic education in well, math and science. As a result, I'm very comfortable tutoring students in math and physics. I have also spent a lot of time tutoring for the ACT and SAT. I love to tutor because I simply enjoy spreading my knowledge for the purpose of helping others. It's a wonderful feeling knowing that I'm enriching the lives of my students and helping them achieve brighter futures. I especially enjoy tutoring students who are as passionate as I am about learning. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, practicing piano, reading manga, and following NBA basketball (go Thunder!).

Hi! I'm Isabella, a prospective mathematics major at Princeton, originally from the south side of Chicago. During high school, I worked with Chicago's Apex Elite Academy to tutor South Side elementary and middle school students in mathematics and English. In my junior and senior years, I had the opportunity to take the second and third years of the University of Chicago's Honors sequence in mathematics, and after I graduated, I spent the summer working as a teacher and grader at the University of Chicago's Summer Program in Analysis. This entailed designing the program's curriculum, giving lectures, and working one-on-one with the participants (rising second and third year undergraduates). Last summer, I also worked as an assistant teacher at University of Chicago Laboratory Schools' summer middle school math class, tutoring small groups of students in arithmetic and basic algebra. In the course of my studies, I have come to realize that it is often much easier to learn when you work directly with another person. This is especially true in the sciences. In learning mathematics, I have benefited a great deal from one-on-one conversations with my teachers and mentors: before my junior year of high school, much of the math I knew came from conversations with my father, and during my junior and senior years, interacting with upper-level undergraduates and teaching assistants at the University of Chicago made my progress much smoother than it would have been otherwise. Through tutoring, I hope to pass to others on some of the assistance I've received. I'm so excited to be working with Princeton Tutoring, and I look forward to meeting you!
